Spencer's Mattress was founded in 1986. In Oxnard California. Spencer was a self proclaimed entrepreneur, self-employed since the age of 13 years old. He started mowing lawns, cleaning pools, even selling mistletoe at Christmas. Forgoing college, Spencer's business grew into a multi-million dollar entity all because of his ability to work long hours and very hard. He never looked back.
Spencer has since opened, bought and sold 22 mattress retail and manufacturing locations and is proud to say all are profitable and doing well. Spencer owns national trademark to a newly formed retail mattress concept called SleepMart® Mattress. He values a good deal and over the last 25 years gained the in depth knowledge of the mattress industry. Spencer knows major brands like, Simmons, Serta and Englander are over priced and cost approximately 30% more then his own brand. He doesn't believe in buying these brands at such high wholesale prices and then marking them up even higher to the consumer. The secret is to contact with the smaller regional brands and match the national brands quality specifications exactly. By doing this his cost is much less therefore his clients save considerably. Spencer coined a phrase "Customers are smart, they know value and want value."
Spencer plans to expand the SleepMart® concept nationally in the spring of 2011. Soon SleepMart® brand will have the national exposure and attention it deserves. Spencer is developing his own brand of mattresses called Optirest. Optirest will be distributed through his network of affiliet stores nationwide. The Optirest mattress brand focuses on natural sleep solutions combined with modern technology and materials such as memory foam developed by NASA.
